This is a newcomer. It has become common very quickly. They are spread everywhere in this region. When you see one, there are many others nearby. It is a herbivore. Absorbs nutrients from plants, fruits and seeds. The main food is flowering plants. I haven't watched in the garden to see if they have done any damage. When they are that color, they are easy to spot.
A beautiful photo. They (Graphosoma italicum) have spread terribly over the past few years. There are a lot of them here.
